CRIME : FALSE PUBLICATION AGAINST CHURCH...Presecutor closes case,as defence resume









The prosecutor has closed his case in a ten count charge suit of alleged false publication, threatening violence, conspiracy, perjury and aiding impersonation levelled against a Clergyman, Pastor John Abiodun before an Ondo state High Court sitting in Akure.

The second defendant who is a don at Adekunle Ajasin university, Akungba-Akoko, Prof Lanre Olu-Adeyemi who is standing trial on five (5) count charges of conspiracy, publication of false news, Aiding  Publication of false news and aiding impersonation.

The prosecuting counsel, Mr Kayode Dare closed his case after calling his last witness, Sergeant Bello Kolapo who investigated the case of alleged false publication in the suit.

The prosecutor had earlier called nine witnesses including bricklayers who built the Promisedland Prophetic Ministry building located on Akure-Owo expressway, supervisors in the projects, prosecuting police officer and the founder of the church, Pastor Gbenga Akinbiyi.

The witnesses all insisted and tendered evidence of proofs that report and publication of alleged planting of placenta and ritual objects in the church's altar was untrue and a falsehood.

The first defendant was alleged to have to publish life threatening, rumours, false and inciting stories about Ajidahun Emmanuel Jeminiyi and Pastor Gbenga Akinbiyi on various social media platforms including Divine Revelation and Christ Apostolic Church Youth WhatsApp platforms.

The counsel to the first defendant, Adelanke Akinrata told the court that he was ready for his defence of the case with three witnesses.

However, counsel to the second defendant, Barr Femi Emmanuel Emodamori said he would only call one witness to exonerate his client Prof Adeyemi.

The presiding judge, Justice Bode Adegbehingbe adjoined the case till July 15th, 2020 for further hearing.
