AKEREDOLU / AGBOOLA AJAYI FEUD WORSEN...






Just as it becomes eminent of defection of the deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi to the  People’s Democratic party,(PDP) , It was like a mild drama during the weekend at the government house, Alagbaka as Hon. Agboola Ajayi was not allowed to drive out of the government house by the Ondo state Commissioner of police, Bolaji Salami and his men.

The Ondo state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi was personally humiliated and embarrassed publicly by the men of the Nigeria Police at the government house ground this weekend.

Agboola Ajayi who was lockdown at the government house gate, with the supervision of the state commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami lamented the involvement of police in political matters.

The drama at the government house gate that lasted several hours shows that interesting days ahead of governorship election slated for October 10, 2020 in the Sunshine State.

It was gathered that the Deputy Governor was blocked from driving out with his vehicle from Government house, as the police commissioner was said to have acted according to the instruction given to him by the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The deputy governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi in his words " I can not understand what is happening here, that I can not drive out with my car which I personally bought, I feel this is a mess and the police is not expected to be part of this, as what happened in 1983 should repeat it self,the people will resist such".

The relationship between the Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Agboola Ajayi was said to have gone frosty following irreconcilable differences since 2019.

Mr Ajayi, according to sources, will announce his defection to PDP at his home town, Kiribo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the state any moment.

Confirming the development, Mr Babatope Okeowo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, said the incident of Saturday evening has worsened the crisis between Mr Akeredolu and Mr Ajayi.

He said the deputy governor was prevented from leaving his official quarters over an allegation that he was planning to dump the APC for the PDP.

The incident happened in the presence of two members of the House of Assembly, Mr Festus Akingbaso and Mr Rasheed Elegbeleye.

‘Ajayi was taken hostage for hours at the government house gate despite the fact that he enjoys immunity under the Constitution of Nigeria,’ Mr Okeowo said.

Narrating the development, the deputy governor’s spokesman said: ‘The security officers led by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) told the deputy governor that he could not move his vehicles out of the government’s house because it was late.

‘He said the deputy governor should come back on Sunday if he wanted to remove any of his vehicle outside the government house premises.

‘The deputy governor, however, insisted that he would not leave the gate back to his official quarters unless they allow him to remove his official and personal vehicles out of the government’s house.

‘The two gates to the government’s house were under lock and key while the stern-looking policemen were positioned at the gate to prevent the deputy governor from leaving the premises.

‘The deputy governor and lawmakers representing Idanre and Akoko North-East constituencies were left at the gate of the government’s house for more than four hours.

‘The deputy governor, however, said he wanted to remove his official vehicles out of the government’s house because he no longer feels secure in the premises.

‘He alleged that suspected political thugs have been detailed to attack him and vandalised his property at the government house once he declared for the rival political party.

‘However, the deputy governor expressed disappointed with the conduct of the Commissioner of Police and the men posted to the government house. He said the conduct of the police boss is unbecoming of a senior police.

While in his statement, the Chief Press Officer to the governor, Segun Ajiboye said reports of alleged looting by some officials reportedly attached to the Office of the Deputy Governor have been noted with serious concern and attention given to same.

Saying Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, while commending the security agents whose vigilance prevented the carting away of government property from the Government House under a spurious guise, has equally called for calm and more vigilance by all and sundry.

Noting that,  the Governor takes no delight in breaching the personal freedom and liberty of all individuals, it is pertinent to ensure that Government stems and possibly, halts needless sabotage of Government business as well as pernicious acts capable of creating a breach of public peace.

Adding that in this regard, much as individuals, groups, or group of persons within the limits of their personal liberties and freedom are entitled to exercise their rights to every manner of legitimate endeavour, Government shall not shy away from protecting public property under its watch.

Nonetheless, Governor Akeredolu enjoins security agents attached to the Government House to ensure they carry out a thorough and dispassionate discharge of their assigned duties and responsibilities. Ajiboye posited.
