COALITION 2020 TASK FG ON INSECURITY AMONGST OTHER...




Federal government have task to be more alive to their constitutional responsibilities of providing adequate and effective security to all Nigerians and curb incessant insecurity challenges permeating all the states of federation and hindering both human and physical development in the country.



In a communique issued and signed by Hon. Bamiduro Dada, chairman of the group and RT. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, chairman publicity  at the end of the meeting of Coalition 2020 held in Akure, Ondo state calls on the government to  quickly and tackle the insecurity challenges confronting the country, before it engulf the nation,as it is noted that the problem unabated.


The Coalition commensurate with the Government and people of of Kaduna, Katsina, Adamawa, Bornu and all those whose loved once have been affected by the recent spate of insecurity in Nigeria.
 

Consequent upon the above, the Coalition embraces and applaud once again the initiative of the South West Governors on the creation of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed AMOTEKUN. While the group warn that, while considering the numerous advantages derivable from the existence of the outfit that the same should not be a tool for political oppression and vendetta against perceived political opponents, lest the aim is defeated.




While applauding the move by the National Assembly at reviewing the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended particularly in relation to the Electoral Act. The body sees this as a welcome development, if the constitution can sincerely be looked into and amended with a view to providing the country with a more reliable and transparent electoral process that can be adjudged to have given all participants a free level of participation. Without doubt, electronic voting system if adopted will help reduce incessant electoral violence, ballot snatching, falsification of figures and so on and so forth.



 According to the Coalition 2020, the people of Ondo State deserves good governance and effective political leadership and are therefore entitled to dividends of good governance such as free and qualitative education, and that Ondo State must be returned to the era of free basic primary and secondary education as well as heavily subsidized tertiary education.While also the people are also entitled to qualitative and affordable healthcare service as well as other basic functional amenities like free pipe borne water good roads amongst other.




 
The body commends the naming of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology Okitipupa after the great and iconic late Governor Dr. Olusegun Agagu and wishes that government of Ondo State take more active steps to honor and recognize othe legends living and dead particularly but not limited to the visionary Executive Governor of the state, Pa Adebayo Adefarati of blessed memory.

 
 While charging all leaders and members of the Coalition 2020 dotted across the whole 18 local Government Areas in the State to continue preaching the gospel of the Coalition and build their structures by encouraging all interested stake holders irrespective of political affiliations, religion or tribe that the essence of good governance rests squarely on credible personalities holding public offices in the interest of the overall development of Ondo state.
 
 
 The Coalition therefore congratulates all the political parties affected by the recent INEC deregistration exercise for their victory in court, most especially congratulate those state party chairmen who are within this coalition.however admonish INEC to seldom be in a hurry to deregister political parties, but rather be more concerned with the responsibility of conducting a free and fair electioneering process devoid of violence and oppression, with the electorate allowed to freely decide which political party to belong to and who to govern them.


In his appeal to members of the Coalition 2020 and the general public, one of the Coordinators Hon. Akin Akinbobola urges the people to ensure they maintain peaceful stand at all times, that politics and polity  have gone beyond thuggery and violence,that Ondo state and Nigeria can be great and develop in an atmosphere devoid of crisis and rancour. With good leadership of positive and focus intentions. As personalities and  members drawn from  the whole 18 local government areas of the state attended the meeting in a large numbers.
