ONDO COALITION 2020 DRUMS SUPPORT FOR AMOTEKUN...Calls for good governance





Different political groups in Ondo State yesterday threw their weight behind the setting up of Amotekun by the governors in the zone to fight insecurity in the Southwest geopolitical zone of the country.


The group under the auspices of Ondo State Coalition 2020 identified with the Operation Amotekun and appreciated the initiative of the Southwest governors in setting up the security outfit.


The Interim Chairman of the Group, Prince Bamiduro Dada who spoke at the inaugural meeting of the Coalition commended the initiative of the governors at fighting violent crimes including kidnapping, herdsmen clashes with the farmers and armed robbery that have pervaded the region in recent times.


Speaking at the meeting of the group in Akure, the State Capital the group berated the previous administrations in the state over their inability to provide social ammenities for the people of the state,like good roads, education, portable water and other infrastructures.



They lamneted that despite the amount of fund coming to the state from the federation account,  the people have remained in poverty while there is infrastructural deficits in all the Local Governments area of the State.


The group including former political office holders, technocrats, artisans and businessmen drawn  from all the 18 Local Government promised to shop for credible candidate to pilot the affairs of the state in the forthcoming governorship election.


In a communique read by former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Princess Jumoke Akindele and former Chairman of the State Football Agency(ODSFA), Mr Akin Akinbobola, the group said they would mobilise the people of the state against vote buying in the next election.


They said the incident of vote buying has made governments to be irresponsible to the yearnings of the people.


They promised to work with any credible candidate irrespective of political parties to deliver good governance and development of the state.
