AMOTEKUN: FG ADVICE TO TREAD PEACEFULLY... Akorede
As arguments and counter-argument trailed the formation of operation Amotekun by South West Governors, Nigerians both at home and abroad have continued to lend their voices.
The Grand Imam of Akure Sheikh (Dr) AbdulHakeem Yayi Akorede has advised the federal government to support the South West governor's on the formation of the security outfit of Amotekun to avoid being viewed as partial.
The Imam gave the advice in Akure, Ondo state capital during the Jum'at service, said since there are similar security organizations in some states across the Northern States like Kano and Katsina (Ishbar) Nasarwa and Plateau (Operation Rainbow) Yobe and Borno ( Civilian JTF), he queried why the Attorney General of the Federation, Malami, should declared Amotekun as an Illegal body.
The Cleric said, the formation of the security organ is long over considering the hardship being faced by the people of the region in the hands of Fulani herdsmen such as kidnapping, killings of the people at will and related crimes.
Akorede who praised the boldness of Governor Akeredolu and applauded the leadership of Governor Kayode Fayemi and their Colleagues for the formation of Amotekun, he called on each of the six States houses of Assembly to quickly pass a motion on Amotekun and make the outfit a legal entity in their respective states.
In his words, “Attorney General, Abubakar Malami should know we are also Nigerians and we deserve to be protected and if not defend our selves according to the Sunah of Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw)”, he added.
The Grand Imam called on all Muslims to respect the leadership and laws of their host communities as well, while solicited for mutual relationship amongst other.
