Task at repositioning RUGIPO - Ogundahunsi
The authority of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo ( RUGIPO ) has reinstate efforts at repositioning the forty years old institution as a task that will not relent upon at achieving.
Speaking on this development, the Rector of the institution, Mr. Gani Adebola Ogundahunsi said on assumption of office over a year ago, met an institution that was at comatose and verge of collapse.
The Rector noted that reviving the institution involved stepping on toes, mending broken fences and reconstruction of damage bridges to have way for development.
According to him, on assumption of office as Acting Rector mid September 2018, he inherited an over-bloated workforce that really pose great danger and difficult for the progress and development of the institution. A situation that take divine and understanding measure to tackle.
Ogundahunsi in his words " On my assumption as Acting Rector sometimes 18th September 2018,, the first challenge I encountered then was the case of over-bloated staff, which take divine and understanding measure to tackle. And what really give me a smooth understanding of the whole issue was that I have spent over thirty years in the institution and I rose through the ranks, so that gave me the full understanding of the the whole situation.
"While I can boldly say the transformation experienced in the institution can be hinged to the purposeful leadership of the executive Governor of Ondo state and the visitor to the institution Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the dynamism of the Chairman of governing council to execute the mandate given to the council" Ogundahunsi noted.
Ogundahunsi notes that he was able to cover feat of achievements as Rector within the shortest period on board, due to peaceful atmosphere been enjoying in the institution, cooperation of staff,students' and the host community in general.
Enumerating some of his achievements in areas of accreditation of programmes of the institution by the National Board for Technical Education ( NBTE ) as out of 37 programmes presented for accreditation, 32 we're accredited while the other 5 we're on interim accreditation.
Also, structures like the administrative block, Rector office, Registry building and Bursary building were almost at 75% completion, while faculty of social sciences and communication studies, faculty of Agriculture technology amongst other had gotten the buildings ready for use.
