NIGERIANS TASK ON STRUCTURAL DEFECTS...Engr Adegbenro




The rate at which there are cases of structural defects and collapsed of buildings across the country have  become worrisome to the engineering professionals,due to activities of quacks that have perpetrated  the profession.


Speaking over the alarming rates at which there are cases of collapsed structures across the country, Engr. Gboye Adegbenro, a fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) ,former commisoner for works in Ondo State said most cases treated on issues relating to collapse  structures have been linked  to activities of  quacks within the engineering   profession.


Adegbenro posits that a situation where a client gives job to a quack  possing as professionals, that such situation is dangerous to the growth of the nation as it also putting many lives at risk , while using structures constructed by in-experience persons is a threat to lives.


According to him, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE are working round the clock at making sure that culprits found are brought to book with appropriate sanctions. Moreso stamp-out quacks in the profession.


Adding that part of the measures taking by the Society to curb quackry in the profession includes putting the seal and  registration number of any engineer (s) handling certain projects on the documents of agreement, incase of any reference.


Also that there some strategic measures at monitoring  monumental projects across the country through efforts of certified members of the Society at ensuring the required standard and specifications were fulfilled on various projects.



While he lamented on many lives that have lost on cases of collapsed structures across the country and several billion of naira in such regards, charges Nigerians to desist from using quacks at handling their valuable projects.
