FG PROMISES TO TIGHTEN SECURITY ON HIGHWAYS
The federal government has assured Nigerians readiness to explore all options, including deploying soldiers and other security measures on the highways, towards addressing the growing spate of cases of security challenges in the country.
Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo gave the assurance during a condolence visit to the chairman of Yoruba sociopolitical group, afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti in Akure over the killing of his daughter, Funke Olakunri by suspected gunmen along Kajola axis of Lagos Benin expressway.
Prof. Osinbajo while commiserating with the nonagenarian assured Nigerians that the federal government is working towards a workable overhaul of the nation’s security architecture.
The vice president explained that president Muhammadu Buhari has met with security chiefs towards re-strategising at waging war against security breaches across the country.
Osinbajo affirmed that that the inspector General of police has also laid out a new policy on Community policing to enhance intelligence gathering.
The vice president assured Nigerians that government is committed to providing all logistics to prosecute the fight against criminality in the country.
While he appealed to Nigerians to be calm , assuring that the present administration remains committed to security of lives and property across the length and breadth of the country.
