CRISIS ROCK ONDO COMMUNITY...As government imposes curfew






The crisis rocking Ondo south senatorial district area of Ondo state is taking a new dimension as the people of the areas call for caution.


Speaking at a press conference addressed by leaders from the areas under the auspices of Araromi-Obu develpment Council, (ADC) a former Senator , Omololu Meroyi said in the recent time, there are invasion on their lands by some people who are not the origin of the land, precisely the Ikales.


The senator stated that, although there is a court judgement on May, 13th 2019 conceeding part of Araromi-Obu land to the Ikales, which same has been duely appeal at the court of Law.


The ADC informed that , since the Ikales people have started unleashing terror and afflictions on the Araromi-Obu people , without taking into consideration that case is still pending at court of Law, by allowing peace to reign


According to the Araromi-Obu people, two (2) people are already dead, eight,(8) people seriously injured and are in different hospitals across the state, nothing less than five (5) houses burnt and several destroyed as many farm lands destroyed across the community.


The community informed that in the course of the Crisis be-clouding the areas, the monarch Oba Adelola Aderemi, narrowly escaped been attacked by the people of Ikale, while several of the farm lands in the community have been invaded.


While the Araromi-Obu community call on the government to quickly Wade into the crisis, before it is escalated more than necessary in the interest of peace of the state. Adding that Araromi-Obu people are noted for peace, hence hence should not be provocated. Since the people have been on their land for age- long, as the present monarch is the 18th to ascend the the throne of their fore-fathers. The crisis rocking the areas have continued to persist  for several years.


The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, has ordered the imposition of a twenty-four hour curfew on Ago-Alaye Town in Odigbo Local Government Area of the State as measure for safety of lives and properties in the area.


According to a statement signed by the state commisoner for Information, Donald Ojogo, this follows preliminary reports received in the wake of the violent clash which resulted in the loss of lives and property in the area. It is taken in the overall interest of the inhabitants of the area as well as adjoining towns and villages. The need to prevent the unfortunate incident from escalating also reinforces this action.


While all inhabitants in the affected area are enjoined to take maximum advantage of this step being taken by obeying the order. Security agencies are by this action, mandated to enforce the curfew to the fullest.
