SANITATION : WASTES TAKE OVER AKURE ONDO CAPITAL...
The sight of Akure, the Ondo State capital is now befaced with wastes at nearly every noticable junctions in the city even the popular NEPA junction leading to the state government house.
The wastes according to residents have been littered the capital city in the past few days now, without any Officials of the waste management company in sight to evacuate the ugly sight created by the wastes for propal disposal
Madam Aminat Ahmed, ingredients seller at the popular Adedeji market in the town, said it has take some days now that the officials of the waste management came to the market to pack wastes, she calls on the concerned agencies to quickly call the official concern to save the situation and prevent breaking of diseases from such wastes and most especially not to block drains as the rain set in.
A nutritionist in the state, Dr. Monioluwa Victor posits that the earlier the best the state government call on the waste management company to be alive to their responsibility by evacuating all the noticable wastes that littered nearly all major junctions in the town ,to prevent break-down of diseases.
The medical personnel informed that especially those wastes near the markets pose great danger to health of the citizenry, especially the market women selling consuming items like fruits, which some people consume without washing, fried beans cake (akara), garri which are always open to flies and germs and all other food items around the wastes.
All efforts by the Society Premium to reach government officials or the waste management company proved abortive, as to know why there had been days of delay at evacuating the wastes in the capital city.
While a source that preffered to remain anonymous, said there is a certain development concerning the lease of the waste management company that is causing delay at evacuating the wastes in the town.
