CRIME : TWO SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS' OTHERS ARRESTED FOR CULTISM
The Police authorities in Ondo state have paraded Sadiq Jimoh and Raji Wasiu, students of Oroke High School Akungba-Akoko amongst suspected cultists and armed robbers disturbing peace of the state.
Parading the suspects at the Ondo state police headquarters along Igbatoro in Akure, Olugbenga Adeyanju, Ondo state Commissioner of police, said the suspects were arrested at various points by men of the command
The duo who confessed to be members of Scorpion cult group were equally apprehended along side of some other cultists based on information received by the police that some suspected cultists who have been terrorizing Akungba community and its environs were planning another attack.
The detectives attached to Akungba division swung into action and subsequently apprehended one Peter Yoyiho at Premier Hotel Akungba who confessed to be a member of Aye confraternity, Jimoh Taiwo and Daramola Temitope said to be Aye cult group were equally arrested by the police.
Also, the police at Igbara-Oke arrested one man named Oluwasanmi Mayowa aged 41 years who claimed that his hands and legs have tied by suspected thieves and later made away with his master’s Nissan Almera car Reg. No AKR 898 XA.
The suspect said the vehicle was snatched between Igbara-Oke and Owena Owode expressway by three armed men. However, after series of interrogation, he confessed to complicity in the missing vehicle. As he named his other accomplices as Niyi Akintoye ‘m’ aged 42 years and Tunde John ‘m’ aged 40 years both of Akure. He also mentioned one Olaoke Paul in Lokoja who assisted in selling the car for One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000) only. The vehicle has been recovered while suspects will soon appear in court.
Other recovered stolen vehicle by a team of patrol men led by Inspr Omoshowon intercepted a Toyota Bus with Reg No KTU 402 AU with inscription of a school driven by one Ifeanyi Ikpegou ‘m’ along Ayetoro Akinfosile expressway.
The said driver was questioned and he said he was coming to Omotosho to carry plantain. But on physical observation of the bus it was discovered that some figures were scraped off from the phone numbers on the body of the bus. The numbers on the bus were dialed and somebody picked from Lagos claiming that the bus was stolen from Lagos and that the case had been reported to the Police in Lagos.
The driver of the bus was consequently arrested and he admitted to be one of the drivers of the aforementioned school. He said he stole the vehicle in order to use it for public transport service(s) in Onitsha in Anambra State. While the police authorities said he will soon appear in court.
