HEALTH : ONDO PREGNANT WOMEN PROTEST OUTRAGEOUS HOSPITAL BILLS
Just as members of the state House of Assembly lament insensitiveness of the state government to their plights, pregnant Women in the state have also protest outrageous medical bill at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Akure.
The women that numbered in hundreds halt normal activities in the hospital, urging Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to urgently reverse #25,000 charge for delivery while CS which was hitherto free before the coming of the present administration on board, now go for #50,000.
According to some of the women who spoke on the development lament the unjustified charges ranging from #500 to #4000 being collected from the pregnant women by the hospital's officials on the order of the state government.
The Expectant Mothers numbering about one hundred or more, disrupted operations at Ante-natal section of the hospital and some other departments of the hospital.
While it will be recalled that pregnant women and their children below age five (5) years enjoyed free medical services under the Previous administration of Olusegun Mimiko in the state.
Meanwhile, rate of charges in private hospital's in most of the town's in the state is far lesser than what obtains in private hospitals, while some people hinged this direction as an attempt by the health commissioner to feed colleagues in the private sector in the state.
All efforts at getting the side of the state government in this development prove abortive.
