DEVELOPMENT : ONDO ASSEMBLY CRIES OUT





The Ondo State House of Assembly has urged Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to urgently give  priority to the needs of the legislature in the interest of development of the state.


The lawmakers who lamented on the deteroriating condition of the Hallowed chamber  , during a plenary session that saw all the members using papers to fan themselves as a result of enormous heat experienced during the sitting.

The lawmakers emphasized that they are financially handicapped and incapacitated, as they could not spend ang money without the consent of the Executive arm of government.

While calling for  financial autonomy of the House of assembly would go a long way to alleviating their hardship, suffering and underdevelopment facing the legislative arm of government.

Raising a point of importance, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Iroju Ogundeji appealed to  Governor Akeredolu to quickly release fund for the House so as to embark on Constituency projects which they never had the opportunity in the last three years.

On his part, the Minority leader, Comrade Sola Ebiwonjumi debunked
reports that the state government had procured utility vehicles for the legislature and also  giving the lawmakers constituency allowances.

The Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun informed that the little contributions of the lawmakers to their constituents were from personal efforts through loans.

Mr Oleyelogun urged Governor Akeredolu to attend to their needs in the interest of the true democratic values.
