HERDSMEN ATTACK : OYEBODE CALLS FOR CAUTION...As Akeredolu marks one year in office
The constant and callous aggression by Fulani herdsmen across the country should serve as a wake-up call to all men and women of goodwill and humanitarian disposition on the necessity for peaceful co-habitation among Nigerians.
This are the observation of the Guest Speaker at the first anniversary lecture of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu's administration in Akure, Professor Akin Oyebode, a renowned professor of international Law at the international event centre, the Dome.
According to the professor of Jurisprudence and international Law, the cases of herdsmen attack on different people across the country is situation wish hampers the love, peace , respect and trust for fellow human beings, which he notes good government should condemned in totality by all who wish Nigeria well.
The lecture titled " Rethinking the Nigeria Nationhood : issues and challenges, Oyebode posits that these are indeed a harrowing times for Nigeria and Nigerians when the majority of young one have lost faith and confidence in the Nigeria project.
He informed that the youths no longer have trust on the leadership, as they look for succour in foreign football teams, foreign music, foreign dressing, and all foreign things one can think of, as long queues of youths are now noticed at various embassies , ready to leave the country for foreign lands.
The Law Don lamented that, it is simply indefensible and unacceptable that nearly 60 years after the country's political Independence, that the country is underperformance, and underdeveloped, noting that leaders across the country regarding their vision or mission should stand up at working for road map for Nigeria's transformation.
While the cases of herdsmen attack and related issues need urgent attention in the interest of the of Peace, development , progress and future of the country, Nigeria.
Chairman of the occasion, Gen. Alani Akinriade rtd. eulogise the present administration in the state, and implores Nigerians commitment in the project Nigeria.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in his remarks noted that as a product of circumstances, there is need to rise to the occasion and make things work in the country.
While the Governor gave commendation and cash rewards to some students and sportsmen that distinguished in various fields and categories, as part of activities marking his first year in office, Amongst whom is one Odunayo Adekuoroye , second best world female wrestler, who was given #250,000 cash reward among others.
