ARREST OF MONARCH : FAYOSE CAUTIONED
Criticism and eyebrow raising has continued to trail the arrest and prosecution of a monarch in Ekiti state, Oba Ganiyu Obasanyin, the Olukere of Ikere Ekiti, as an Akure based Human Right lawyer, Barrister Morakinyo Ogele alleged that the action is conspiracy .
Ogele, while addressing journalists in his chamber in Akure, the Ondo State capital overy the weekend , said that the action taking on the monarch was very inhuman and also a total ridiculed the position of traditional rulers. He stated that the arrest was politically motivated and sponsored by the Ekiti state governor, Mr peter Ayodele Fayose, over a matter that the monarch refused to take side.
According to the human right activist, "The monarch has not done anything wrong in not supporting the candidate of the governor, who also happen to be the son of ikere Ekiti, the monarch only said that, time has not ripe for him to support any one or Eleka, the governor’s choice. It is however a political case and never a murder case as been claimed .
“It was in the speech delivered by the monarch during the opening of his multi million naira hotel complex in Ikere Ekiti, on 22 December, 2017, that he the monarch mentioned that Eleka,is not our candidate yet, that provoked the anger of Governor Fayose , which after three days of the opening, that made things getting complocated and thugs invaded the hotel and destroyed his properties ".

Ogele further posited that that the police chased the hoodlums and killed one of them but to our dismay, the story was upturned on the monarch and charged to court on suspicion that he was involved in the killing. Which police affirmed that the killing was done by them.
The frontline Lawyer however called on other traditional rulers and well meaning Nigerians to intervene in the matter before it degenerates to something else, saying the throne is becoming bastardise by power drunkers as Royal stools across the country are now been dragged in the murky water of politics.
Ogele who cautioned the Ekiti state Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, to have a rethink over his attitude of embarrassing duely constituted traditional institutions and respect the Royal fathers.
In his words, " Fayose has turned himself to a street fighter that whosoever refuses his offer or directive must suffer for it in the hard way” Imagine a Governor acting this manner to a well known traditional ruler of a town in your state, it is quite unfortunate”.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Adegboye, had remanded the monarch, Oba Ganiyu Obasanyin over the alleged killing of one of the "Governor’s boys" last week that took place within ikere town after the commissioning of an hotel that belongs to the Monarch.
