ONDO NUJ COMMENDS TV JOURNALISTS

The Ondo state counci of Nigeria Union of Journalists  ( NUJ)  has join the rest of the global community to celebrate today's UN World Television Day and commends journalists in the industry.

The union in a release signed by James Sowole and Leke Adegbite,  Chairman and Secretary of the council respectively appreciate the  dynamically dutiful journalists working with television stations in the state for their steadfastness in the discharge of their duties despite various challenges in the media industry.

The Union notes that the recent restructuring at the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC, and  the face-lift being given to facilities at the station, call on the Ondo state government to fast track the process of reopening of the television station which the people of the state are eagerly waiting for in short time to come.

NUJ commends the administration of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for not sacking any of their members at OSRC and wishes that the good people of Ondo state will soon be enjoying a reinvigorated  OSRC where professionalism and friendly work environment will be encouraged.

The union also celebrates the hardworking colleagues at NTA stations at Akure, Ikare-Akoko and Okitipupa for keeping the flag flying amidst inadequate and decaying facilities.

The Union uses this medium to call on the Federal Government to overhaul equipment at the stations to enable NTA to serve the people better, while an enhanced media salary for all journalists in the country should be worked out without further delay.

NUJ also commends reporters of all private TV stations working in Ondo state for their professional disposition in serving the government and the general  public.

The NUJ wish all media workers and viewers Happy World Television Day today.

It will be recalled that in 1996, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed November 21 as World Television Day, “in recognition of the increasing impact television has on decision-making by alerting world attention to conflicts and threats to peace and security and its potential role in sharpening the focus on other major issues".
