AMNESTY : ONDO GIVES 21 DAYS ULTIMATUM FOR ARMS SUBMISSION

The Ondo state government has issued a 21-days ultimatum to all armed youths in the state and creeks to submitted all arms and amunitions in their possession in the interest of peace and development of the state and country at large.
While speaking at the official proclamation of amnesty for armed youths in the Niger-Delta areas of Ondo State, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, appreciates the Federal government for putting in place the programme , and by extension giving the opportunity to the armed youths residents in the state.
Akeredolu who task the youths to quickly embrace the opportunity and drop all arms and amunitions in their possession within the time frame giving and get key-into the package of the amnesty in the best interest of all and embrace peace.
The Governor informs that five (5) collection centres have been designated in the state for the collection of the arms and amunitions, namely Ajapa, Igbekebo, Igbokoda, Ugbonla and Arogbo respectively, adding that a robust packages have been put in place to rehabilitate such youths that dropped their arms, while proper documentation accompany the programme.
Goodwill messages at the occasion, the national Coordinator, amnesty programme, Major Gen. Paul Borroh Rtd. Promised federal government support of the initiative, urges the armed youths in the state and other states of the Federation to surrender their arms and embrace the initiative, noting that peace is the only language for development . Acting Governor of Delta state, Kingsley Burutu Otaro appreciate the amnesty initiatives, saying insecurity in one state is insecurity in the region, while he stressed the need to join hands at fighting such insecurity before it gets out of hands.
The traditional rulers from the areas, whom Oba Fredrick Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom speaks on their behalf, pledges the total support of the traditional institutions in the areas at making the amnesty initiatives a huge success.
