POLITICS : APDA CANVASES FULL WOMEN PARTICIPATION
The Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance ( APDA ) Ondo state chapter has canvasses for giving women full participation in the polity at all levels of governance across the nation
Speaking in Akure the Ondo state capital at the women conference organised by the party for all women in the eighteen (18) local government areas of the state, the national Vice Chairman of the party, South West and the State Convener of the party, Hon. Akin Akinbobola said giving women a place of pride in the polity of this nation is paramount, as women are key factor and essential in the calculation and strategic planning of the nation's scheming.
He noted that time has come when women should be given the rightful roles in the governance , as he posits that women are naturally created with passion and sincererity for excellence.
The women conference, which is first of such in the state have, resource persons from different sectors of the society that dwelt on various topics that geared towards assisting the women at changing their environmental faces of their businesses and positions as the back-bone of various families in the society.
Amongst the guest speakers at the occasion are Dr. Adedayo Adedeji of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Laurel Ojo, state Chairman of the Radio, Theatre Television Workers Union ( RATTAWU ) Ondo state chapter , Adeshola Ogunleye, national President of NGOS in Nigeria and CEO of Country Women Association of Nigeria ( COWAN ) amongst other where topic on roles of women as Leaders, entrepreneurship skills, safety at home and others were delivered.
The women conference that has the theme " Women taking charge now as major stakeholders in good governance " task the women to wake-up and contribute their quotas to the nation development, as done by some prominient women in this country in the past.
While it is noted that, with the large numbers of women population across the country, yet they still loose elective position when it comes to election, the conference there urges the women to always speak with one voice at all times.
The carnival-like conference ends in fanfare, as guests and participants share knowledge and exchange pleasantries. ..
