Former Governor OluSegun Mimiko handing over to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at Cocoa conference hall, Governor'so office Akure.
It has now become a daily discussion and arguments between every Ondo state residents and people outside the state how Mimiko and Akeredolu chide each other Over the State of finances in the sunshine state with various altercations.
Following the obvious discrepancies in the account of Former Governor, Olusegun Mimiko and that of the present Governor ,Oluwarotimi Akeredolu about the state of finances of Ondo State, some residents have advised both leaders to reveal the true position of the finances of the state without any reservations .
A resident, Biyi Olatunde said the former Governor, Mimiko was not been truthful and sincere by saying he left whopping sum of N20 billion in the state coffers.
He posits that the Governor could not have left that huge amount and would not pay backlog of months of Salaries arears to the teeming workers in the state, noting that it shows insincerity and insensitivity on the part of the former Governor to the workers and people of the state .
Olatunde in his words, "How come that Dr Mimiko is saying he left that amount in the state kitty and six months salaries are left unpaid. I can't agree with that figure and the former Governor might not be saying the truth and fair in all."
In her reactios too, Mrs Bimbo Adekunle ,a public affairs analyst , accused Akeredolu for waiting for over six months before coming out, declaring the state of finances of the state.
Mrs Adekunle urges the present government in the state to be serious with the issue of governance, saying the people are beginning to have different feelings and perspective as regards the government.
In her words: " All I know is someone is not telling us the truth in this situation. Why will the Governor waited so long before making the true position of state of finances known , considering the importance of that issue in the state. Something must have been wrong somewhere."
While reacting ,the Interim Secretary of Advance Peoples' Democratic Alliance (APDA ) in Ondo state, Mrs Titilayo Ashaolu urges the duo of Mimiko and Akeredolu to stop playing politics with the finances of the state, describing it as unnecessary.
While noting that the people deserved to know the true position of the finances of Ondo state, Ashaolu advised Governor Akeredolu to brace-up for real business of governance and stop complaining.
"Let both of them stop taking the citizenry of this state for granted with their inconsistent pronouncements all these days. What the citizen want is real governance that will stand in defence of democracy"Akeredolu should sit down with his team and bring up ideas and Programmes that will bring about a better and meaningfull life development for the people, rather than grandstanding in the public domain with complains and arguments.
The APDA Chieftain said there's high level of hunger, hopelessness and anger in the land presently, leading too despondency.
While it will be recalled that Governor Akeredolu in his speech while inaugurating his commissioners said his government met a whopping sum of N220 billion as debt of the state.
However in a swift reaction to Akeredolu’s claims, Mimiko ,in a statement by the former Commissioner for Information,Kayode Akinmade declared that his government did not leave behind a debt of N220 billion. He also contradicted the governor’s claimed that he left N9,956 billion in the state’s coffer even as he insisted that he left N20 billion.
Meanwhile, the big questions the citizenry were asking the present administration in the state under Akeredolu is why taking him so long to come out to tell the people of the state position of things and true picture of the finances, more so why is the former administration of Olusegun Mimiko left that huge amount of #20bilion in government coffers and not deeming it fit to pay salaries owing workers of the state.
