INEC SEEK STAKEHOLDERS SUPPORT
The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) has seek for the support of all stakeholders, from political parties, media, religious bodies, faith belief organisation and other related bodies at cooperating and giving necessary supports to the electoral body at achieving success in the discharge of their duties.
Soliciting for the support, the newly posted Resident Electoral Commissioner ( REC ) in Ondo state, Barr. Mutiu Agboke during his maiden meeting with stakeholders in the state, appreciate the support given to the commission in the past, noted that the electoral body lays high premium on the support of stakeholders in all their projects and policies.
Agboke posits that the collaboration of stakeholders in all electoral programmes in the state, especially the last governorship election in the state, which was widely acclaimed as very credible, free and fair deserved great appreciation.
The REC noted that his tenure in office is to ensure the continuation of this success story through the full and unbiased implementation of the commission mandate in the state, like conducting of free, fair and credible elections in the state is a great priority to him as the Resident Electoral Commissioner.
Agboke noted that the commission core mandate is to serve as implementation and effective election management body, committed to the conduct of free, fair and credible elections across the country for sustainable democracy in the country, adding that the goals shall continue to be pursue with the veritable tenets of autonomy, transparency, integrity, equity,professionalism amongst other good virtues.
The REC adding that it is the vision of INEC to be one of the best election management bodies in the world that will meet the aspirations of Nigeria people and political class irrespective of party ,region or faith. Reiterating that the body will continue to seek for the cooperation of all stakeholders in this direction.
While reminding the people of Ondo state on the continuous Voters Registration Exercise that is going on across the 302 wards in all the eighteen ( 18 ) local government areas across the state, that the exercise is strategic importance as the bedrock of and foundation for the conduct of any credible elections by the commission.
He informed that INEC has also created additional six ( 6 ) registration centres in the state to minimise the hardship the people might encounter in the course of registration by the registrants, while he gave passionate appeal to prospective registrants to avail themselves of the opportunity.
Agboke, who solicits for the full support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the state at ensuring that INEC succeed in all their mandate mission and exercise at giving credible electoral process and elections for the state and Nigeria as a whole.
