FUTA CHURNS OUT 4,241 GRADUANDS
The Federal University of Technology Akure ( FUTA ) has concluded plans to churn -out over 4,000 graduands from various department of the institution into the public, having satisfied the required academic requisites of the institution.
Speaking at a briefing with journalists in Akure , ondo state capital, Chairman Ceremonial committee for the 28th convocation ceremony of FUTA, Prof Olaniyi Okunola said all arrangements have been put in place at having a befitting convocation for the institution , with a week-long activities lined up.
According to him, a total of 4,241 graduands with 68 graduands for diploma programmes in the centre for continuing Education, 2,889 undergraduates and 1,284 from post graduate school, while Master Ali Abdul-Hafeez Semomhe from the department of electrical Electronics Engineering emerged the overall best graduating student for the 2015/2016 academic session with a C.G.P.A of 4.89.
According to the Ceremonial committee Chairman, the week-long events will feature Jumat service, students ' variety day, interdenominational service, Excellent and Productivity Award night, novelty football match ,career talk, Alumni meeting, commissioning of nothing less than ten ( 10 ) giants projects and convocation proper on sarturday 18th March 2017 and round -off with convocation luncheon.
The 28th convocation ceremony will also honour the following distinguished personalities like Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, former Minister of Agriculture and Africa Development Bank ( ADB ) and Prof.Rainer Horn.
The University ( FUTA) according to the Don,has excelled in various pursuits ranging from academics, researches and exchange of intellectual properties under the leadership of Prof. Adebiyi Daramola as the Vice Chancellor, noting that this has earned the institution various honour and awards both within and outside the shore of the country.
He added that adequate security are already in place in the institution at ensuring a smooth and hitch-free ceremony, while noting that the peace enjoy in the campus is the good rapport and mutual understanding between the town and the gown.
