CRISIS LINGERS IN ONDO ASSEMBLY
Crisis rocking the Ondo state House of Assembly seems not to have a solution at sight as the two warring factions laying claim to leadership of the House are not ready to shift ground as the Assembly complex was under key and lock with the watchful strong eyes of security agencies.
Information gathered said the embattled Speaker, Jumoke Akindele and other twelve (12) members were at Assembly complex this morning ( Monday ) for a plenary session when the Malaki Coker, lead group with other twelve (12) members stormed the House and disrupted the session , insisting that their group had the authentic leadership of the House.
However, to prevent crisis and chaos, the security operatives quickly swift to action and asked all members and staff of the Assembly to vacate the premises and put the Assembly under lock, while security prevent entrance to the premises. One of the security operatives at the Assembly complex, who spoke under annonimity told journalists that the Commissioner of Police has instructed that no person should be allowed into the complex for any transaction.
While speaking on the development, Hon. Olusiji Akindiose, chairman House committee on information, and also at the Jumoke Akindele faction, said the purported suspension / impeachment of the Speaker and the Deputy is illegal, foul and more so that the process run foul against parliamentary guidelines in such a matter in question .
Adding that the said lists of members that signed the impeachment notice of the Speaker been paraded by the group ,happens to be the old lists signed then to impeached the Speaker , which the matter has been resolved.
In their own position, the Malaki Coker , Speakership lead faction with other twelve (12) members ,which Hon. Ogundeji Iroju from Odigbo 1 state constituency, spoke on the behalf of the group said all the claims of the Jumoke Akindele leadership faction are nothing but all lies. Posits that all the due procedure for the impeachment were followed to the last letter and that twenty (20) out of the twenty-six (26) Lawmakers signed the impeachment notice accordingly with dates to authenticate their signatures.
Iroju noted that some few cabal in the House can not continue to be ruling arbitrarily and fraudulently at the expense of the generality citizenry, hence the need for change of leadership of the House.
The group how ever call on the authorities of Stanbic, IBTC and Access banks not to honour any transaction from the House now, pending the time the whole situation will come to normalcy, urging the people of the state to frown at any move to plunder the state to penury
